Hola, soy Jay, tengo 38 años, soy de Santa Catarina pero actualmente vivo en el estado de Espírito Santo, Brasil. Vivo con mi esposa Rapha y nuestro gato, Mingau, que significa papilla en portugués. Me encanta hacer viajes donde solo llevo mi mochila y descubrir nuevos lugares y culturas. En mi tiempo libre suelo ver películas y series con mi mujer y pasar tiempo con mi familia.

Hello, I'm Jay, 38 years old, from Santa Catarina but I currently live in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. I live with my wife Rapha and our cat, Mingau with means Porridge in Portuguese. I love backpacking and discovering new places and cultures. In my free time, I usually watch movies and series with my wife or spend time with my family.

Hablando de mi trayectoria profesional, abrí mi primer negocio a los 17 años, era un taller de reparación de celulares. Después de 9 años migré a TI comenzando como diseñador web en la startup de un amigo. Durante la última década he tenido la oportunidad de trabajar en diferentes tipos de empresas, desde pequeñas startups hasta grandes corporaciones.

Talking about my professional background, I opened my first business at 17, it was a cell phone repair shop. After 9 years I migrated to IT starting as a web designer at a friend's startup. During the last decade, I have had the opportunity to work in different types of companies, from small startups to large corporations.

If you are wondering how I came to Clara, I have to tell you that a friend recommended to me this company and quickly caught my attention for the agility that the people team demonstrates in the hiring process and the seriousness that the company takes in its business. Y esto ocurre porque desde niño soñaba con trabajar con TI y realicé mi primer curso de 'Data Analysis' en 1999. En 2001 la herramienta 'Microsoft Access' me hizo abandonar la programación. Durante mucho tiempo creí que nunca volvería pero a finales del 2011 decidí darme una oportunidad más y ¡no me arrepiento! Hoy en día trabajo principalmente como Frontend Engineer, pero generalmente me aventuro en otros equipos, incluido la actuación como Tech Lead en dos ocasiones. Me gusta verme como Full Cycle Dev, capaz de actuar donde sea necesario.

And this is happening because since I was a child I dreamed of working with IT and I took my first 'Data Analysis' course in 1999. In 2001 the 'Microsoft Access' tool made me give up on programming. For a long time, I believed I would never come back but at the end of 2011 I decided to give myself one more chance and I don't regret it! Today I work mainly as a Frontend Engineer but I usually venture into other stacks including acting as Tech Lead on two occasions. I like to see myself as a Full Cycle Dev, able to act wherever needed.

Me pasa frecuentemente que la gente no sabe lo que hace un Ingeniero Frontend, y para aquellos que tienen curiosidad, el Frontend Engineer es responsable de construir las partes de una aplicación que son visibles para el usuario. Estos pueden llamarse interfaz y es el Frontend Engineer quien se asegurará de que refleje las necesidades del negocio y que el cliente final pueda interpretarlos fácilmente.

It happens to me frequently that people don't know what a Frontend Engineer does, and for those who are curious, the Frontend Engineer is responsible for building the parts of an application that are visible to the user. These can be called an interface and it is the Frontend Engineer who will ensure that it reflects the needs of the business and can be easily interpreted by the end customer.

Si estás interesado en ser Frontend Engineer, también debes saber qué desafíos enfrentarás, porque trabajar en el área Frontend requiere mucha atención a la usabilidad de la interfaz de usuario, la compatibilidad con diferentes navegadores y todos los tipos de pantalla. También requiere una gran capacidad de adaptación, ya que existen innumerables herramientas, marcos y tecnologías que se pueden utilizar para el mismo propósito. Finalmente, es necesario prestar mucha atención al rendimiento y la seguridad, ya que esta capa está expuesta al mundo.

If you are interested to be a Frontend Engineer, you have to know also what challenges are you going to face, because working on the Frontend layer requires a lot of attention to user interface usability, compatibility with different browsers, and all screen types. It also requires high adaptability, as there are countless tools, frameworks, and technologies that can be used for the same purpose. Finally, it is necessary to pay great attention to performance and security, since this layer is exposed to the world.

Y para concluir, me gustaría decir que no hay una fórmula perfecta para empezar y trabajar como Frontend Engineer. Cada vez que alguien me pregunta por dónde empezar, sugiero buscar cursos en Programming Logic, HTML, CSS y Javascript. Con estos conceptos básicos en mente, el profesional podrá migrar entre tecnologías más fácilmente.

And to conclude, I would like to say that there is no perfect formula to start and become a Frontend Engineer. Whenever someone asks me where to start I suggest looking for courses in Programming Logic, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. With these basics in mind, the professional will be able to migrate between technologies more easily.
